Monday 3 1:30-6 Tuesday 4 11-3:30 Wednesday 5 12:30-5 Thursday 6 1:30-6 Friday 7 12:30-5 Saturday 8 8:30-1
So Sunday will be my break in working 13 shifts in a row, yay! Well, I'm spending it at my grandparents' place or whatever for Thanksgiving, so it'll prolly end up being pretty awesome cause I'll get stoned with my cousins and drunk with everyone else. So lemme see, what's new? I got my results back for the air traffic control thing:
Dear Candidate,
Thank you for your interest in a career with NAV CANADA and your participation in the selection process for Air Traffic Services training programs.
As you are aware, there are a limited number of spaces available for training and the level of skill, interest and enthusiasm exhibited by candidates has been quite high. This has made the selection process a very competitive one. We have reviewed your assessment results, and it has now been determined that other candidates are more suitably qualified. Therefore, we regret to inform you that your application has not been successful. Took them long enough, eh?
If you wish to be considered for future opportunities in training with NAV CANADA, you may reapply after a period of (1) year from the date you were tested. Please submit your application through the NAV CANADA website, or other processes available at that time.
Once again, thank you for your interest in a career with NAV CANADA.
So, I'm not in, YET. Not a big deal to me, actually I kind of expected it. My mother, on the other hand, is convinced that I'm somehow screwed for my entire life now, rather annoying, really. The way I see it, I'm glad I found out now rather than after sitting in the maybe pile for 1.5 years, and THEN having to reapply in a year. I'll update more about last week later, lotsa crazy stuff happened, I just don't feel like being on the computer anymore. Later ppl!Current Mood: bored

Now unless somebody asks me to work on Tuesday, that'll be my first break in working 8 days straight at Sobeys (I ended up working on Saturday). Today was fucking crazy. I got there at 5pm, and there was not ONE SECOND between then and 10pm where there weren't AT LEAST 3 ppl in my lineup. Crazy busyness, I don't understand it. Anyway, I'm really tired, sleepytime! =P

Monday 13 4:30-9 Tuesday 14 12:30-5 Wednesday 15 8-3:30 (WOW, a REAL shift!) Thursday 16 12:30-5 Friday 17 1:30-6 Sunday 18 5-9:30
Wow I work a lot, and that of course is why I'm updating my work schedule on FRIDAY!! At work on Sunday I came down with the nastiest cold I've ever had. FUCK. I had to like blow my nose in front of customers and shit, not fun. But yeah the next day that turned into a brutal headache and fever. I went into work with a fever of 101, took like 3 tylenol 3's over the course of the night just to get through it. I also took a reactine every day until thursday. So now I'm basically getting better, but I'm still having terrible sinus issues and I haven't been sleeping well at all. But that's all okay, because you see there's this girl and she's REALLY cute and great and...MUST...NOT...JINX... I'm not gonna say any more just yet but, I'll tell you more about that when there's more to tell, okay?
What else is there? Oh yeah, now that I'm gonna soon start training on cash office I've started working a lot harder and just generally taking the job a lot more seriously. It's arthritis awareness month, so were letting ppl donate in dollar increments, and I've already made well over $100 in like 3 days. Nobody else really sells it. But I guess I have pretty good motivation, since I have guaranteed arthritis when I'm 60 in the wrist I broke, and I'd much rather not experience that. One weird thing... one woman I asked if she wanted to donate and she was all like 'no thanks, I believe in the healing power of the supernatural', so I'm thinking okay maybe she's into some weird religion or cult or something but I figure whatever...but then she goes on to explain that she believes that whole thing that God should do all the healing, and stuff like that. Now I'm not one to question other beliefs but that one has always outright pissed me off. I mean the whole logic of it is flawed, what if God WANTS you to invent a cure for arthritis? What if part of His plan is for you to perform cpr on a dying person to try and save him/her? I mean He already knows whether or not you're gonna do it, anyway, right? Don't even get me started on the problem of free will, though. But that brings me to a movie review.
Everyone should TOTALLY see Waking Life! It's an independant film so it's not well known, but it's extremely trippy (it was filmed in live action and then drawn artistically, using the live action as a model, there's no live action in the movie...but yeah you'd have to see the style, I can't really describe it) and more importantly it's brilliantly philosophical, and just plain beautiful, there's no other way of describing it. imaria and terminus8 especially, should definitely check that one out, mayhaps at my place sometime soon. But now I'm totally exhausted so I'm gonna sleep. That's all for now!

So I got 'promoted' to cash office assistant, apparently. Well, this is roughly how it went: -"Hey Michelle(the assistant manager), I hear you're looking for cash office assistants." -"That's correct." -"I'm your man!" -"Do you have the availability?" -"100%, I don't go to school this year." -"Then I guess you got the job." So yeah, next step, take G2 lessons and get a fucking car!!
Crazy. Quite honestly the scariest movie I've ever seen... Ok, no, it's actually a good movie, for a musical.

Tuesday 7 11:30-4 Wednesday 8 12:30-5 Thursday 9 12:30-5 Friday 10 2:30-7 Sunday 12 4-8:30
Unfortunately no THURSDAY this week but if anyone wants to come over or just hang out on especially Saturday, or any other time during the week of course, if they can work themselves into my schedule, lemme know.
As you can see I have to work early tomorrow (early for me, I usually get up after noon), so hopefully I'll be able to sleep this early, because I plan on starting to be an all-star Sobeys employee, and that'll require me being well rested, and at least on time (I have a strong tendency to be between 1 and 3 minutes late, lol). One of the cash office assistants, Nicole told me that they're looking for more ppl to do her job, and she said she honestly thought that out of all the ppl who still work there I'd be the best for the job. So tomorrow I'll hopefully get a chance to talk to one of the managers, and explain why they NEED me for the job. I'll let you know how that goes.... Basically I really need a FT job NOW so I can save up for a car, which will in the very least help me to see ppl more often.
Oh, and good luck to everyone starting school tomorrow, Carpe Diem!!!

My Dad sent me this email today:
Subject: How to lose IMMEDIATELY privileges for Internet and having friends over, et cetera
Today is the VERY LAST TIME I shall ever have to see the basement in a state of dirty dishes and garbage.
Effective IMMEDIATELY, the argument "It's _____ (Aaron/Amanda)'s mess" is UNACCEPTABLE.
EACH and EVERY mess MUST be CLEANED UP on the SAME DAY as you make it.
"I fell asleep" is YOUR problem ... so clean up first!
If you come upstairs, bring your dirty dishes and garbage with you. NEVER leave it until later.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Consequences: FOR BOTH OF YOU
(1) No Internet (2) No friends over (3) No eating or drinking in the basement
You have been warned FOR THE VERY LAST TIME.
oligarch, g.
What the hell, eh? He doesn't even ever GO in the basement unless it's to check how he can punish us. Plus it's never nearly as dirty as he makes it out to be, and we all clean shit up pretty much as soon as possible. The bottom line is, like everything else he gets upset about, it has absolutely NO bearing on HIS life until he chooses to make something of it. What an insane fucker!
| » How it went... |
Okay, so the good news is they actually finished the interview this time. Unfortunately I still have no clue when I'll be in, IF I'm in, but I at least find out IF in 4 to 5 weeks. The interview for the most part went well, I'm pretty sure they're convinced that I'm CAPABLE of doing the job, but I dunno if they'll let me in for the simple reason that they're afraid I won't do well in the school, because "the best predictor of future behaviour is past behaviour". After the interview was over and she stopped the tape, she let me know off the record that she honestly wasn't convinced I was serious, simply because of one of the main interview questions in which they ask about 3 goals that you set and acchieved, and while I had decent examples for all 3, they were all short-term goals, because in all honesty, I've never in my life set a long-term goal, at least not until very recently. But anyway she said that her opinion doesn't really matter, the facts and ratings do, so we'll see... But I WILL get this job!! I WILL get this career if it fucking kills me. If I have to wait a whole 2.5 years from today (the longest possible time), to reapply and go through all this crappy process again, I'll do it. At least by then I'll have good long-term goals acchieved and there's NOTHING they can do about it, mwahahahaaaaa. In the meantime I'm still chillin' like a villain at Sobeys or I'll eventually get a full time job, but either way, THURSDAYS are still gonna continue, although they might be moved to a different day depending on everyone's availability. For example, I might start having THURSDAYS on friday, but it's still gonna be called THURSDAY!!!
Monday 30 5:30-10 Wednesday 1: Air Traffic Controller Interview!!! Thursday 2 1:30-6 Friday 3 5:30-10 Saturday 4 11-3:30 Sunday 5 7-10:30
So yeah, my air traffic controller interview is on Wednesday at 10:30am in TO. I've been trying to schedule this interview for sooooo long now (at least 3 months), and they only finally set a date for LAST Wednesday very recently, which they of course rescheduled again. September 1st just so happens to be the deadline they gave me to reschedule an interview by, so if I get fucked over I'm gonna be PISSED! So that means that this week's THURSDAY is a definate go (provided that ppl show up some time after 6:15pm). Come one, come all, because it's clearly either gonna be a congratulatory party or a consolation party, and either way, I'm getting SMASHED!!!
Wish me luck ppl!!!!!!!
Monday 9 7-10:30 Wednesday 11 1:30-6 Thursday 12 11:30-3:30 Saturday 14 10:30-3 Sunday 15 3:30-8
So last night I drank 1.8 litres of 7.1% maximum ice beer in about twenty minutes and then sparked up a joint. Yeah, I puked. Like 8 times. Okay, more like 3. But yeah, some fucker stole my miki(lol) of sour puss, which cost a whole 5 dollars. Like, I hope they feel big about themselves for stealing shit at a party when I was far too incapacitated to watch it! The nerve of some ppl... Anyway, I made it to work only ten minutes late after missing a go train, so not too bad. Other than that minor unpleasantness, though, I feel great, my confidence is at an all-time high, and I'm just generally glad to be alive.
Oh yeah, as you can see, I get off work at 3:30 on Thursday, so COME OVER!!! This THURSDAY is officially a GO! Now I will have dinner. My schedule is SO fucked, this is a normal dinner time for me!
So if anyone wants to fill in the very small blanks between working, please feel free. The Thursday night thing is still on for anyone crazy enough to show up to my house after 9, actually, that's roughly when ppl usually show up anyway. And of course if anyone wants to do anything on Friday, I'm free all day so lemme know!
I'm gonna start doing this every week, so that ppl will know when I am available to hang out with them, because rest assured, availability = enthusiastic willingness. Just give me a call, and we'll work out the details. Without further ado, here it is:
Tuesday 27 3:30-8 Friday 30 5:30-10 Sunday 1 1:30-6
Oh yeah, I LOVE MAGIC MUSHROOMS! But don't eat them, they're bad for you. I had a shrooms party at my house last Thursday, about 8 ppl tripping out like mad. My sister was hilarious, she literally power-laughed for over 3 hours straight. Speaking of last Thursday, I'm thinking about telling Sobeys that I don't work Thursdays or Friday mornings, and therefore making Thursday the official "Party at Lowry's house!" day. There may or may not be drugs (alcohol, pot, and perhaps some shrooms) there each week, so (if this becomes official), come at your own discretion. Either way, come to drink, come to get high, or come to just chill and hang out with lots of good people (just don't come to make a mess of my house, or bait me out to my next-door cop-neighbours, I'm thinking of getting a vaporizer so that all pot-smoking can be accomplished in the privacy of my basement, instead of outdoors). It'll obviously be byob/d(rugs), because nobody can afford paying for THAT party on a weekly basis. If and when this does become official, I'll post on LJ in advance every week to let ppl know whether or not it is a go.
| » Update, and Movie Reviews |
I went to my aunt and uncle's new place yesterday for Father's day. It was an awesome house, really huge. Unfortunatly, my older cousin Dave decided not to show up at all, and I was pretty sure my younger cousin Chris wasn't coming. So I got drunk. Relatives are a lot easier to deal with that way, aren't they? Just when I was getting really drunk, I decided to go for a walk and explore the area with Amanda. As soon as we got outside, Chris pulled up in his car, like 2 hours late. Chilled with him for a while, but then he had to go home to the wife. Altogether, it was prolly a pretty boring night, but I was far too drunk to care. Oh, but dinner was fucking AWESOME! Pork tenderloin, among many other tasty things, but I ate sooooo much, I was fucking stuffed! I prolly should start eating more, and get lots of exercise, since I apparently lost over 5 pounds in muscle over the course of my encarceration.
I think I got a job at Sobeys! I went in for an 'interview', and they basically said: "here's the paperwork, fill it out and we'll call you to let you know when you start training". So apparently I got the job before even meeting them. They gave me an employee handbook and had me fill out my banking info, so it's pretty likely that I'm actually hired, even though they didn't say the words.
Anyway, I've been meaning to do this for a while, so here I go. Lately in theatres I've seen (sadly with my parents due to lack of funds and transportation): - Kill Bill vol. 2: fantastic, REGARDLESS of whether you saw the first one. The acting is fabulous, and so is the storyline. Altogether a 4 star movie easily. - The Day After Tomorrow: mediocre, at best. Fantastic special effects are pretty much the only thing this movie has going for it. Entertaining, but I wouldn't waste your money on theatres, but then again the special effects will barely matter on the small screen, so unless you see it in theatres for free, I wouldn't bother. - Supersize Me: really good. This movie changed my life. For anyone who is unhealthy, overweight, or who eats at fast food restaurants often, and actually even if you're not one of these ppl, you should check this movie out. It'll scare you, gross you out, and make you laugh, but all the while making you think, and quite frankly it just tells you stuff you SHOULD know, but prolly don't. It's a documentary, but one of the rare ones that is as enjoyable to watch as Bowling for Columbine. - Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban: they just keep getting better! This movie is, in my opinion, the best so far of the series, and should not be missed on the big screen. I still have yet to read any of the Harry Potter books, and from what I'm told, there are a few book-to-movie discrepancies, but that happens with ALMOST all book-to-movie translations (Lord of the Rings seemed like the exception to the rule), and happened in the other 2 movies as well. At any rate, from what I heard from my sister and dad, the discrepancies weren't big enough that they detracted from the movie.
Actually, this is just a real update. So I finally got my cast off last Wednesday! Yay for normal typing speed! It was pretty cool how they cut the cast off, they used this huge, scary looking saw with like a spinning metal gear, which you could cut your finger on when it's stationary, but when it's spinning it only cuts the cast. It couldn't even cut through the gauze that the doctor put under the cast, much less skin. When the doc took off the cast, the worst smell I've ever smelt came out. The reason for that was because every time I took a bath with the cast on, some condensation would get into the cast, it couldn't be avoided, and so eventually that led to a slightly infected coin-sized blister. It was pretty gross, but it healed in like 2 days once the cast was off. The two other things I noticed when the cast came off was that my hair was several shades darker underneath (it's a common thing, believe it or not), and that I could barely move my fingers, much less come close to making a fist, due to atrophie. Oh yeah, and my skin was soooo dry that I lost like 3 layers of it, and even today it is raw and hypersensitive, it's weird, if I run my hand through my hair it feels like my hair is made of straw.
The best part: the doctor's prescription to deal with the atrophie was lots of videogames. That's right, I, was prescribed videogames!! Pretty cool, no? Well, since then I've played LOTS of videogames, and now I can make a pretty good fist, but I still can't bend my wrist backwards at all. I hope the doc fixed the wrist right, and it's just atrophie, and not a bad bone alignment. I'll still have some serious physio therapy to go through.
Well, now that I'm ready and able, if not necessarily willing to work, I have to worry about getting myself a job, or my parents will kick my ass out. Hopefully Sobeys still wants me. And that, folks, is about all I can think of right now.
Oh wait, no actually there is one more thing and it's very important: I don't know if any of you have been apprehensive about the situation with Michelle and I, but if you have, there is no longer a need to be. We weren't on speaking terms for a while, but now things are basically back to normal. We're just good friends, and I believe that Jon would vouch for us on that one, seeing as how he chilled with just the two of us. So if there was ever any doubt for anyone about whether it was a good idea to get us into the same room together, rest assured, it won't be a problem. I'm only saying this because certain people were suspicious that I was being invited places that she was not, even though she normally would, and I think I've already cleared it up with Michelle that if there were places that she wasn't invited to, neither was I. I personally don't believe that such a thing was taking place, but if it was, I'm just saying that there's no reason for it to continue.
